As a CT wedding photographer, I have to admit, Maple Lane Farms wedding venue is a true hidden gem. In fact for the wedding featured below, it was the groom, Toby, who found the venue! He works in food distribution, and his industry connections were all buzzing about Maple Lane Farms wedding venue. Naturally, he had to check it out, and he and his bride Sarah fell in love with it.

Located in Preston CT, this stunning wedding venue is actually a tree farm. The acreage is filled with sprawls of cut-your-own Christmas trees. Additionally, they offer visitors delectable samplings from their seasonal selections of grown-on-property berries, apples, and pumpkins. But where this beautiful property really stands out is in its ability to transform into a joyous wedding venue. The 18th-century Colonial-style barn residing on the property has been fully restored & updated. All in an effort to host romantic unions. Moreover, the venue also offers the option of planning a tented reception on their lawn, which is how Sarah & Toby chose to host their guests on their wedding day.

It was late spring when Sarah and Toby were joined in marriage at Maple Lane Farms wedding venue. On the day of their wedding, the season was in full swing with a tangible magic filling the air. I knew the evening of their wedding would be filled with the soft glow of the sun setting in the distance. All in all, presenting a magnificent opportunity for me to capture the visual representation of the warmth that surrounded Sarah, Toby, and their guests on that unforgettable day.

That morning, Sarah prepared for the day at a local farmstead Colonial home. It was conveniently located across the street from Maple Lane Farms wedding venue. This property was absolutely stunning. Many facets of the interior, as well as the facade, still embody the original time period of the build. Furthermore, this is where I worked with Sarah and Toby on a first look on their wedding day.

When I initially met with Sarah and Toby, we discussed the importance of having a first look. Ultimately, they decided it was a wedding day element they couldn’t wait to experience together. After walking through the grounds of the farmstead, I knew exactly where to let this beautiful moment unfold. Additionally, the lush landscape of the grounds, along with the stone wall in the backdrop was an impeccable location for photos with the members of their wedding party, including their adorable flower girls and ring bearer.

But, soon after, it was time to head to Sarah & Toby’s ceremony at Maple Lane Farms wedding venue. Set out for their guests were rows and rows of white garden chairs. Lining the aisle were delicate hanging floral arrangements in soft pastel tones. Sarah and Toby elected to have an unplugged wedding ceremony, allowing their guests to be present and immerse themselves in the overall wedding day experience.

Sarah and Toby were married by a large pond with two swans. The conversation throughout the day quickly turned to talk of the swans. Neither myself, the guests, nor their wedding officiant (a family friend) could figure out if the swans were real or simply decoys! It was a fun conversation starter that brought their guests together in a light hearted way. In addition to the swans, there were several deer (all real) on the property who popped up throughout the day. Aside from the decoy swans and the majestic deer, Sarah & Toby’s wedding day was nothing short of blissful. You can see moments from their first look, ceremony, reception and golden hour portraits, through the photos below.
