Before their upcoming wedding next fall, I met with Megan and Dave for Hartford City Hall engagement photos. At the time, Connecticut was in the throes of winter. Undeniably, winters in Hartford and notoriously brisk. We were in need of an indoor location for engagement photos in Connecticut. One that would allow me to capture the essence of the love they share. For its beauty alone, we decided to meet at Hartford City Hall.

The grandeur and opulence of Hartford City Hall is undeniable, making it a top choice for engagement photos. Conversely, it’s also a well-sought-after location for couples who choose to elope. The building reflects Beaux-Arts style architecture, with Bethel white granite, a copper tile roof, and entryways made of gleaming bronze. Stepping inside, you’ll also find features such as a grand stone staircase, checkered flooring, and lancet-arched windows. Completing the otherworldly feel of the architecture at Hartford City Hall is the atrium. A structure that rises over three stories of the building and is topped with a glass skylight.

The interior of Hartford City Hall is vast. In order to make the most of Megan and Dave’s photoshoot, my overall vision was to explore the crevices and details. This approach was designed for us to look at each corner of the building with a unique perspective. All in a way that was imaginative and transformative. The stairway became a place where a romantic rendezvous could unfold. Stolen kisses were relished as the doors to the elevator began to shutter. Entryways and walkways became paths for embodying the story that Megan and Dave were writing for themselves. Furthermore, deepening their connection and solidifying their bond on their journey to be wed. When I met with Megan and Dave for their Engagement photos in Connecticut​, their hearts were open to the experience. They embraced their free-spirited side, freely celebrating their love.

Something to know about planning your engagement photoshoot at Hartford City Hall is that a photography permit is required in advance. The permit covers the length of time for your photoshoot. With Meghan and Dave, I timed their session in alignment with the sunset. As the sun began to set, the main hall was awash with a golden glow. All in all, this effect added an unparalleled level of romance and whimsy to their images.
